Triton Invitational, San Diego, California, USA, 21-22 April
Over in California Paralympic champion Aled Davies (coach: Ryan Spencer-Jones) was in sensational form, setting a new discus personal best of 54.85m, over half a metre further than he’s ever thrown before and a new F42 world record (subject to ratification).
The Welshman also contested the shot put, where he was only 21cm shy of his personal best, a 17.19m throw good for sixth place.

Hartnell Spring Fling Throwers Meet (Elite Division), Salinas, California – 21 April
Nick Miller (Tore Gustafsson) threw 4cm shy of his British hammer record in California, with a best of 77.51m which was over the World Championships qualifying standard. He had three further throws over 76 metres (77.02m and 76.92m) in a very solid competition for the Briton, and the result places him fourth in the world ranking in 2017 so far.

LSU Alumni Gold, Baton Rouge, USA, 22 April
In his first 200m of the outdoor season, Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (Dennis Shaver) ran a world class 20.15 to take an easy victory on his home track, the second fastest time of his career to date to go top of the Power of 10.

Michael Johnson Invitational, Waco, Texas, USA, 22 April
In her debut over 400m, 2014 European 100m bronze medallist Ashleigh Nelson (Michael Afilaka) ran an impressive 53.29 marking her return from injury having not raced since June last year. There was also a solid 46.13 run for George Caddick (Clyde Hart) in the men’s event.

John Jacobs Invitational, Norman, Oklahoma, USA, 21-22 April
Ama Pipi (Jonas Dodoo) was also in personal best form across the pond, the Oklahoma University student winning the women’s 200m in 22.95 (+1.5), her second personal best of the outdoor season. That run puts her second on the Power of 10 rankings.
In the field, Nic Percy (Vesteinn Hafsteinsson) produced a season’s best of 62.38m to win the discus, exactly one metre shy of his personal best, whilst also winning the hammer with a best of 65.81m.

Virginia Challenge, Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, 21-22 April
Jamaine Coleman (Andy Bibby) set his second 3000m steeplechase personal best of the season, winning in an impressive 8.42.82 to go well inside the European U23 Championship qualifying standard. The Preston Harrier took victory by some nine seconds before returning the next day to win the 1500m and lower his personal best to 3.48.37.
