Winter Selection Policies

25 October 2010

UKA’s selection policies for this winter have been announced with a focus on the European and World Cross Country Championships.

The SPAR European Cross Country Championships take place in Albufeira, Portugal on 12 December 2010.

Selection will take place following the official trial race in Liverpool – the McCain Liverpool Cross Challenge incorporating the European Cross Country Trials – on Saturday 27 November (Sefton Park, Liverpool), which doubles up as meeting one of the 2010/11 McCain UK Cross Challenge Series.

The Series continues in Cardiff on 16 January 2011, before moving on to Antrim on 22 January and Birmingham – the McCain UK Cross Challenge Final incorporating the IAAF World Cross Country Championships Trials – on 5 March.

The 2011 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, the final edition of the event in its current format, will be held on Sunday 20 March 2011 in Punta Umbria, Spain. The next IAAF World Cross will take place in 2013 and will take place bi-annually thereafter.
