Women In Coaching Advisory Group

30 October 2013

British Athletics are recruiting for a new member of the Women in Coaching Advisory Group. The WCAG was established in 2010 and is a representative group of female coaches from across each of the four Home Countries with members representing a variety of coaching qualification and experience levels.

The group aims to ensure the continued development of female athletics coaches within the wider UK Coach Development system with a particular focus on raising the proportion of female coaches working with athletes in the top 10 UK rankings across U17, U20 and senior levels. The vision is to create opportunities to raise the standard, number and profile of female coaches working with athletes at every level.

Until last year, the WCAG’s main focus was on delivering the annual women’s conference which aims to raise the profile of female coaches, celebrate their success and increase the numbers and standards of female coaches by motivating those attending to strive to achieve more.

In the past year, the focus has widened and the WCAG has now successfully completed the first year of the British Athletics Female Coach Legacy Programme (FCLP) and is now welcoming the second group of females to join the programme. The primary aim of the FCLP is to support the development of female coaches, providing them with the confidence, knowledge and skills to help develop high performance athletes.
