Women’s Coaching Conference

25 October 2010

Keynote speakers Margo Jennings and Louise Deeley provided a brilliant highlight to the 2010 UKA Women’s Coaching Conference – the first major event to be delivered by the Women in Coaching Advisory Committee.

The conference – held on Saturday 23 October at Kents Hill Park Training and Conference Centre, Milton Keynes – attracted more than 50 delegates plus staff, committee, UKA and England Athletics staff and speakers.

In addition to the keynote speakers, there were nine workshop speakers including Emily Parker – UKA Apprentice Coach for Horizontal Jumps, Scott Grace – England Athletics National Coach Mentor for Youth Development and former Great Britain international Judy Vernon.

The event was a resounding success and feedback was extremely positive.

Lynsey Glover – a Level 2 Coach from Northern Ireland – said: "I found the conference to be a really worthwhile and beneficial experience. It was a great opportunity to meet and learn from other coaches in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. I would recommend it to everyone."

Level 2 Coach Aileen Cameron from Scotland, added: "It’s been a truly inspirational day – pure dead brilliant! My brain is buzzing and I just cannot wait to get home to put it all into practice. Thank you."

Beth Harris, Chair of the Women in Coaching Advisory Committee, said: "This conference was all about bringing coaches together and allowing direct, interactive engagement with some top quality facilitators from across the UK. Margo’s involvement was exceptional and we all finished the day just that little bit more inspired.

"Hopefully as a committee we can use this as a positive step towards our three key advisory objectives of: raising engagement; increasing the profile and raising the standard of female coaches across the UK."
