World Call For Nelson

European Junior 200m gold medallist Alex Nelson has been drafted into the Norwich Union Great Britain & Northern Ireland Team for the IAAF World Championships, which take place in Osaka, Japan from 25 August – 2 September.

The 19-year-old has replaced Dwayne Grant in the men’s 4x100m squad. Grant has withdrawn after a scan revealed that his hamstring injury would not heal in time for the championships.

Nelson has already arrived at the Norwich Union GB & NI Preparation Camp in Macau, where he has joined the rest of the team.

The City of Stoke sprinter won European Junior gold in Hengelo, Netherlands this year and was also the 200m silver medallist behind Marlon Devonish at this year’s Norwich Union UK Championships & World Trials.

He and has also won 4x100m gold and 200m bronze at 2006 World Junior Championships and 100m silver at 2005 Word Youth Championships.
