As part of a commitment to developing young leaders and volunteers, UKA are once again working with England Netball and Gymnastics England to prepare for the Young Leaders’ Camp, and the deadline for applications to the 2011 camp is fast approaching.

The camp will run for four days, from Sunday 14 August to Wednesday 17 August 2011 at Bradfield College, Berkshire. Attendance is completely free of charge and those involved will focus on developing their leadership skills through a range of practical and theory-based sessions.

The deadline for applications is Friday 15 April and successful applicants will be notified by Friday 20 May.

Professional staff from netball, gymnastics and athletics will conduct a programme which will include workshops in club management, personal development planning, activity leadership, officiating, coaching and event management.

Stuart Attwell, UKA’s Senior Coordinator for Competitions, said: "Thousands of volunteers are being recruited, trained and deployed for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and many of these will be drawn from athletics clubs across the UK. UKA are committed to developing young leaders and volunteers in and the Young Leaders Camp, due to take place in August this year, will be a great opportunity for young people to get involved."

Applicants must be 16-19 years-of-age at the time of the camp, actively volunteering in athletics within a club, school or college and enthusiastic, motivated and committed to developing their skills and experience.
