British Athletics and the EIS

British Athletics invest in a range of sport science and medicine services delivered through the English Institute of Sport (EIS), whilst at the same time employing its own Sport Science and Medicine staff to provide such services to Olympic and Paralympic athletes on the World Class Performance Programme or the British Athletics ‘Futures’ Academy Programme.

Some of the services provided by the EIS are available at the National Performance Institute (NPI) at Loughborough University, along with a smaller range of ‘Network services’ available in a number of EIS sites spread across the country. These include:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Sports Medicine
  • Strength and Conditioning support is only available at the NPI in Loughborough.

British Athletics ‘Futures’ Academy Programme Athletes with AMS are only entitled to access Sports Medicine through the EIS Network.
