Planning – Key things to consider

Climate: Average temperature in August ranges 23 – 29oC, with the warmest times of the day being ~10 am to ~9pm. Therefore, temperature may not start to cool down until after 9pm. Average relative humidity in August ranges 40-47 so it could be humid and slightly muggy. At its highest these conditions could feel uncomfortable. For comparison, London is 14 – 22 oC and 60 – 70 % humidity and would feel more comfortable than Jerusalem for the same time of year. For these conditions all athletes would benefit from good hydration strategies, and consideration to how they conduct themselves within these environmental conditions. Endurance athletes may potentially benefit from acclimation prior to travel if competing in a day session.   Please note timetable including daily schedule and especially early session start times

Altitude: Jerusalem, Israel is ~779m above sea level, which although at slight altitude it is considered to have negligible influence on performance.

Time Difference: Jerusalem, Israel is 3 hours ahead of UK time, ie. when it is 11 am in the UK it is 2 pm in Jerusalem. Although the difference is not too great, nearer the time considerations to how to plan the first few days may be required, as travel fatigue could be a larger consideration than jet lag.
