ASHER-SMITH UP FOR BT SPORT ACTION WOMAN OF YEAR AWARD

Dina Asher-Smith’s glorious 2018 continues to be recognised following a nomination for the BT Sport Action Woman of the Year Award while the women’s 4x100m relay team have also been shortlisted for a prize.

Now in its sixth year, the Award celebrates a host of exceptional sporting performances by British female athletes throughout 2018 with Asher-Smith’s triple gold at the European Championships in Berlin marked out as one.

Other nominees include double Olympic skeleton champion Lizzy Yarnold, footballers Fran Kirby and Lucy Bronze, golfer Georgia Hall, triathlete Vicky Holland, cyclist Laura Kenny and Paralympic champions Menna Fitzpatrick and Jen Kehoe.

The winner of the BT Sport Action Woman of the Year Award will be decided by a public vote with the nominees selected by a panel of judges including broadcaster Clare Balding, Olympic hockey gold medalist Sam Quek and Sports Editor of The Telegraph Adam Sills.

Asher-Smith, who has already been named women’s European Athlete of the Year and The Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year, is also up for the Team of the Year award as part of the British women’s 4x100m relay team.

Daryll Neita, Asha Philip, Imani-Lara Lansiquot, Bianca Williams and Asher-Smith all played their part as the British women’s 4x100m relay team stormed to gold at the European Championships in Berlin in August.

The British team will be up against the England Commonwealth Games gold medal winning netball team from the Gold Coast and Chelsea FC women. A Lifetime Achievement Award will be also presented on the night.

The winners will be announced at the BT Sport Action Woman of the Year Awards show, which will be broadcast live on BT Sport 2 at 19:30 on Monday 3 December. To vote for Asher-Smith visit: BTSport.com/ActionWoman2018
