British coaches Peter Stanley and Zane Duquemin have been shortlisted as finalists for next month’s UK Coaching Awards in London.

Stanley, British Athletics’ Head of Field & Combined Events, has been put forward for the Lifetime Achievement Award following almost 30 years in the sport.

Duquemin meanwhile is a finalist in the Talent Development Coach of the Year category after a past 12 months that has seen his ability and stable go from strength to strength.

During his career Stanley has played a key role in the successes of some of Britain’s greatest track and field athletes from directly coaching Jonathan Edwards two decades ago to currently supporting athlete-coach pairs such as Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Bertrand Valcin.

This year has success great success in field events with Nick Miller winning Commonwealth gold in the hammer, Lorraine Ugen leaping seven metres in the long jump and becoming part of a trio of Brits to make history in August as Britain qualified three females for a European Championship final for the first time in 49 years.

Age-group athletes have also flourished with hammer thrower Jake Norris and heptathlete Niamh Emerson both winning gold at the World Junior Championships while the latter was also a bronze medallist at the Commonwealth Games in April.

Duquemin, a talented thrower himself and British champion and British international, has gone from strength to strength as an athlete that has moved into coaching.

Of his stable, Jade Lally, Kirsty Law and Amelia Strickler all earned selection for the British team for the European Championships in Berlin in August, Duquemin joining them himself as part of the coaching team in Germany.

Duquemin competed at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast back in April and currently coaches over ten athletes. The UK Coaching Awards will take place at the Honourable Artillery Company in London on Thursday 29 November.
